    Mon 27 Apr 2020

    Helo bawb, su’ mae?

Rydyn ni wedi goroesi yr wythnos gyntaf “yn ôl yn yr ysgol” - boed athro, rhiant, pennaeth, cynorthwyydd, neu’n gyfuniad o rain!

Yma, at Twinkl, rydyn ni wedi cyhoeddi ein pecynnau dysgu cartref ar gyfer wythnos 6 ac am y tro, hon fydd yr olaf o’r pecynnau parod yma. Ar hyn o bryd, mae ein tîm o athrawon a dylunwyr graffeg yn gweithio’n galed iawn i greu adnoddau newydd sbon ar gyfer cynorthwyo ein plant i ddysgu o’r cartref neu mewn hwb. Adnoddau sy’n llawn syniadau ymarferol ar gyfer gweithgareddau i daro amcanion Cwricwlwm i Gymru ar gyfer pob oedran cynradd. Cadwch lygad allan, mi fyddan nhw allan yr wythnos hon.

Lle da i ddod o hyd i adnoddau newydd ydy ar ein cyfryngau cymdeithasol. Ar Facebook gallwch ymuno a’n Grŵp Twinkl Cymraeg (yn bennaf i athrawon) neu Grŵp Twinkl Cymraeg i Rieni lle mae’n bosib rhannu syniadau, gofyn am gymorth neu sgwrsio gyda rhai sydd yn yr un cwch. Neu gallwch ein dilyn ar Instagram, Twitter neu Pinterest.

Mae ein Straeon Gwreiddiol Twinkl dal yn cael eu recordio gan athrawon dros Gymru. Maent yn cael eu rhannu ar Facebook yn rheolaidd ac yn cael eu cadw fan hyn ar YouTube. Cofiwch ddefnyddio’r bar chwilio ar Twinkl i ddod o hyd i’r stori ei hun a’r gweithgareddau sy’n cyd-fynd a’r stori.

Yr wythnos hon, cyhoeddwyd dwy stori newydd sbon yn y Gymraeg. Cuddio-sorws, am ddeinosoriaid sy’n chwarae cuddio ac yn cynnwys rhifo at 10 - perffaith i blant meithrin a derbyn. Yna, Ramadan Rammena, stori sy’n sôn am sut mae Rameena a’i theulu yn dathlu gŵyl Ramadan ac Eid. Dechreuodd Ramadan ar Ebrill 23ain ac mae’n para tan Mai 23ain. Mae gwybodaeth ddiddorol am Ramadan ar gael ar gyfer blynyddoedd 3-6 yn ogystal â gweithgareddau am grefyddau a diwylliannau eraill.

Cofiwch sgrolio lawr i weld ein hadnoddau diweddaraf a chysylltwch os fedrwn ni eich helpu mewn unrhyw ffordd.

    Pobl lwc efo’ch wythnos, Eleri

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Hi everyone, how are you?

We have survived our first week “back at school” - whether you are a teacher, parent, headteacher, support staff, or a mixture of these!

We have published our week 6 home learning packs and for the time being, this is our last pre-made weekly pack. At the moment, our amazing team of teachers and graphic designers are busy working on brand new resources to assist children who are learning from home or in a hub. Resources that are full of ideas for practical activities that hit those Curriculum for Wales objectives for all primary ages. Keep your eyes peeled, they will be out this week.

A great place to find the newest resources we have is on social media. On Facebook, you can join our Twinkl Wales Teaching Group (predominantly for teachers) or our Twinkl Wales Parents Group where we share ideas, ask for support or have a general chit-chat with those who are in the same boat. You can also find us on Instagram, Twitter or Pinterest.

Our Twinkl Originals Stories are still being recorded in both Welsh and English. They are shared on Facebook frequently and are kept here on YouTube. Remember to use the search bar on the Twinkl website to find the copy of the story and also all the lovely activities that go with the books.

We have a brand new book out called The Bear who Came to Babysit for younger children and The Pack of Pompeii for those in KS2. We also have 2 new Welsh books out this week, Cuddio-sorws, and Ramadan Rammena. Both are also available in English: Hide-o-Saurus and Rameena’s Ramadan. This is a lovely story all about Rameena and her family’s Ramadan and Eid celebrations. Ramadan started on April 23rd and will last until May 23rd. We have lots of resources about Ramadan for Years 3-6 as well as other activities full of information about other religions and cultures.

Don’t forget to scroll down to see our latest resources and please do get in touch if we can help in any way,

    Have a great week,

    Eleri

  • CareersWales Update

    Wed 22 Apr 2020

I wanted to update you on the support we are still providing young people and their parents at this time.

The Wales-wide live chat with expert careers advisers that we launched a couple of weeks ago is proving popular. This service is available Monday to Friday and is available for young people in schools and colleges, parents/guardians and those children who are normally home-schooled. It's an opportunity for them to discuss any concerns they have about next steps and their future options.

Over the next couple of weeks we will be launching our home-schooling resources as part of the Welsh Government Stay Safe. Stay Learning campaign and we will be promoting this via our social media channels. The resources will include a series of webinars and lesson plans that parents and young people can complete together at home.

We also have a live Q&A for parents with our careers advisers across our Facebook and Twitter channels on Thursday 23 April between 2-3pm. This is another opportunity for parents to chat through any concerns they have about their child's next steps.

Please keep visiting our website and our social media channels for the latest information about accessing our services.

    Thursday 2nd April 2020

    Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to give you all an update at this challenging time. As some of you will be aware, Ysgol Bryn Castell has been offering a small hub provision for our most vulnerable pupils for the last 2 weeks and todate have supported 17 learners in total.

It should be recognised that none of that would be possible without the dedication and commitment of our truly amazing staff team; 26 staff have volunteered in our hub provision which has been supported by the Administrative, Premises and Senior Management Teams. Staff have also been working hard in the background to set up an online learning platform for pupils and have been keeping in regular contact with yourselves.

We recognise that this period of school closure can be very challenging and would encourage Parents and Carers to develop some kind of routine so that your son/daughter has some structure within this very strange time. However, we should also recognise that placing high demands on pupils at this time can lead to conflict and challenging behaviour.

    A simple routine might include;

    Activity 1

Physical exercise e.g. PE with Joe Wicks

    https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=pe+with+joe+wicks

    Activity 2

    Mathletics and simple numeracy activities

    Break time

    Activity 3

    Spellodrome and simple literacy activities

    Activity 4

Social time activities including watching television, playing on a tablet, reading a book or gaming

    Lunchtime

    Activity 5

Purple mash online learning or work pack activities

Over the Easter holidays, school staff will not be maintaining daily contact with Parents and Carers but access to online materials though Hwb, Purple mash, Spellodrome and Mathletics will be available alongside fun activities on our website.

The school will continue to offer telephone support for behaviour and families in crisis from Monday to Friday (including bank holidays); please call 01656 815595 and leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

In a time of uncertainty it is important to look after one another and ourselves and as a school we encourage you to reach out and seek support if you are finding things difficult.

    Stay safe and best wishes,

    Mrs Helen Ridout
