Art

In KS3 pupils are encouraged to keep a sketchbook to improve their drawing skills. Sketching outside of the classroom opens up pupil's perception of nature and the world we live in. Pupils are encouraged to work on seasonal items which are sold to the public at the school's Christmas and Summer fetes. We use different art mediums  such as pencils, paints, inks and tracing methods using carbon paper. Pupils also work with woods, stone and slate. Pupils learn to use pyrography pens to burn in images to hard wood surfaces such as Beech, Ash, Lyme and Oak.

Pupils are introduced to a sublimation system to produce professional articles such as T-shirts, ceramic mugs, mouse mats and jigsaws. As they do so they will reflect on and evaluate present and past work.
