Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Dear Parents, carers and guardians
The local authority has been working on an emergency mobilisation plan to make available, for collection, a take-away packed lunch for those pupils eligible for free school meals from Monday 23 March 2020.
23 collection points have been identified within local schools (attached). The packed lunches will be available in the main reception area of these schools between 1pm and 2pm. We are hoping to move the collection time to 12 noon to 1pm following our assessment of suitability of these timings.
Please see attached a list of collection points. Please only attend your nearest/designated collection point.
On Monday 23 March 2020, we will be providing one day's lunch provision but we hope to move to providing two days' provision as soon as food supply deliveries allow us to. This change will be communicated to you at your collection school.
I would be grateful if you could limit the amount of people attending the school collection points on each day.
Many thanks

Dear Parent/Carer
Important information below
Please note that all Bridgend schools are closed from Friday 20 March.
However, Bridgend County Borough Council will opening five community hubs to offer emergency childcare facilities for the children of parents/carers who are critical to the COVID-19 response.
While I fully appreciate that many of you are in important jobs, in Bridgend, we have defined key workers as those who work for:
It is important to note that childcare facilities will only be available for those children whose
parent(s) (either or both) are directly employed by any of the organisations listed above. Many parents working in these sectors may be able to ensure their child is kept at home. And every child who can be safely cared for at home should be.
Please, therefore, follow these key principles:
If your work is critical to the COVID-19 response, and you cannot keep your child safe at home, and have no alternative option but to request emergency childcare provision, then your children will be prioritised for community hub provision. This is an evolving model and eligibility will alter over time (eg pupils who are classed as vulnerable)
If you meet all of the critical criteria outlined above, please complete the following form and return it via email as a matter of urgency to EDFSCOVID19@bridgend.gov.uk ideally by 6pm today (Friday 20 March) or at the very latest by 6pm on Saturday 21 March.
I am grateful to you for your patience and continuing support during these challenging times.

Dear Parent/Carer
Coronavirus (Covid-19)
Bridgend County Borough Council’s primary concern is for the safety of children in our schools and we will continue to act in their best interests.
While the situation regarding coronavirus is developing quickly, please be assured that the local authority is working closely with schools, Public Health Wales and Welsh Government in order to implement any necessary measures to protect pupils, staff and visitors from the spread of coronavirus.
While there are currently no identified cases in Bridgend, your child’s school is following specific advice issued by Welsh Government in relation to the management of coronavirus in schools.
National advice, as of today (12 March 2020), remains very much a case of ‘business as usual’, but I wanted to reassure you that the local authority is closely monitoring developments, both locally and nationally. In this respect, the local authority is currently developing a strategy to ensure that effective plans and resources are in place to respond appropriately to this changing situation.
For information, there is a range of advice available to the public on the Public Health Wales, Welsh Government and UK Government websites in relation to coronavirus.
In addition, more specific advice for parents and carers can be found on the Public Health Wales website and I would encourage you to access this routinely. Further general advice in relation to travel to or from the UK can also be found on the website of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).
In the meantime, your support as parents/carers is critical to our strategy to fight the spread of coronavirus. I can only reiterate that the best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to the virus through good hygiene.
Therefore, please advise your child to wash their hands:
Please also advise your children to:
If you are worried that your child may be symptomatic for coronavirus, please call NHS Direct Wales on 0845 46 47 or 111. Do not go directly to your GP or other healthcare environment.
Please be assured once again that the local authority is taking all possible steps to respond to this situation.
Yours sincerely
L. I. Harvey
