CDT

Design and Technology prepares pupils to participate in tomorrows rapidly changing Technologies. Health and safety is paramount in this subject and adhered to every stage in workshop sessions. The subject calls for pupils to become autonomous and creative problem solvers. Pupils will combine practical skills with an understanding of various products. These products could be wood turning and producing individual bowls and lamps using a Lathe. Pupils will make simple chopping boards to wooden tables. Quality materials are used such as Ash, Oak and Beech to create bespoke pieces which are individual to the brief which is created by the pupil.

 

Pupils are introduced to a sublimation system to produce professional articles such as T-shirts, ceramic mugs, mouse mats and jigsaws. As they do so, they reflect on and evaluate present and past design and technology. All pupils can become discriminating and informed users of products, and become innovators.
